Black Sash Leadership Credit for Blue Sash and Above


Definition: Attending Lower Level Classes for Credit towards next Sash.

Purpose of Black Sash Leadership:
1. Review and improve upon previous information in preparation for Black Sash Test.
2. Be an example in form, Black Sash attitude, form and deed for lower level sashes.
3. Help out your Kung Fu/Tai Chi brothers and sisters.

To get Credit, you must follow all rules and procedures in addition to the following:
1. Show up before the class begins. (Do NOT Scan in)
2. Stay for entire class. If you are enrolled in Black Sash Training, stay for the Black Sash portion of class. If you are a Masters Path student, stay for the Masters Path portion of class.
3. When the instructor asks a question, be the first to say, “Yes, Sir” or “No, Sir.”
4. Bow in “Hello, Sir; Hello, Ma'am,” and bow out, “Goodbye, Sir; Goodbye, Ma'am”
5. Demonstrate a Black Sash Attitude.
6. Wear proper Clean and Pressed Uniform with correct patches and sash to every class.
7. Be Positive about the Instructors and the School. Don't participate in negative talks; defend your school.

How does it work?
1. Put your Leadership log sheet in your workbook and bring to class.
2. After the class is over fill out the sheet noting what was covered in class.
3. Have a Black Sash Initial the sheet.

FAQs
1. What if I am late to class? Personal Credit, No Leadership credit. Do not ask for initials.
2. What if I leave early? Personal Credit, No Leadership credit. Do not ask for initials.
3. What if I forget to have a Black Sash Initial, can I have them do it next time? No.
4. What if there was no Black Sash available, can I have them do it next time? Yes.
5. I did extra Leadership hours when I was a Blue Sash (or other sash), can I apply them now for my Black Sash or any future sash? No.
6. I don't have enough Leadership credits for my next Graduation. What can I do to still Graduate? For each Leadership credit you are short, double that amount and add to your next Graduation requirement. i.e. If you are short three credits for Red then you would add six extra for Brown.
7. What is the Demonstration Requirement? The Demonstration Requirement is fulfilled by performing a demo at a Graduation event when you are not a graduate. You would demonstrate something like stick or staff form by yourself or with other students.
8. What is the Tournament Requirement? The Tournament Requirement is fulfilled by competing in a tournament, if one is available.
